OHRRPGCE
The OHRRPGCE (Official Hamster Republic Role Playing Game Creation Engine) is an open-source game development engine. It was designed to allow the quick creation of 2D computer RPGs. The OHRRPGCE uses a scripting language called HamsterSpeak, but games can be made without any use of scripting. Although simple to use, it's very technically limited, so it is best used for quick prototyping or as a way to learn about game development.

This engine was created with 2D Japanese-style RPGs in mind, and authors will find it incredibly easy to make these types of games with little to no programming experience at all. The interface is simple, quick, and fairly intuitive, and includes the tools to accomplish everything but for composing music within the engine itself. It is also continuously updated and improved with bugfixes and new features added every year or so.

Despite the relatively small size of the userbase, questions about using the engine, or possible bugs, are generally answered within a day or two online. The developers actively visit the community forums which is very helpful.

For serious game designers/programmers looking for variety and flexibility, there are probably much better tools. However, the OHRRPGCE still has some benefits. It is free, for one thing. The scripting language, Hamsterspeak, is a simple but powerful beginner's programming language. The engine itself is open-source, and the developers seem open to helping people restructuring it to suit their needs.

The overall popularity of this tool.
- Not very popular I'd say, the community is rather small too.

Indie Pricing
Is there a low cost version available for Indies?
- There's only the free version, but feel free to donate James some money.

Stable NoBugs
Is the software stable and mostly bug free?
- It's more stable than most RPG makers and bugs get fixed frequently, a bug free RPG Maker is somewhat hard to create... I can even get non-free RPG Makers to crash.

Learning Curve
Is it easy to use and are good tutorials available?
- Hm well easy to use... not as easy as non-free RPG makers, but there are tons of tutorials (a wiki) and people on forums are rather helpful if you have a question.

Feature Set
Is the tool packed with useful features?
- Of course, an RPG Maker without useful features would be pretty weird.

Indie Support
How well does the tool maker support Indie developers?
- How is an RPG Maker supposed to support them other than providing useful features? Well the fact that you can just sell your games without the need of a license or anything is pretty Indie friendly I'd say. And you can create executables that directly start your game easily.
